History

The VISIONS Endowment Fund was initiated by the Office of Community Development of the Vandalia-Butler School District, in cooperation with the Dayton Foundation and the Vandalia-Butler Foundation, in November, 2002.

Administration
The VISIONS Endowment Fund is a committee-directed fund administered by a group of community members, including one representative from the School Board, who act as trustees.

Mission
The mission of the VISIONS Endowment Fund is to enhance the educational experience for children attending Vandalia-Butler Schools.  The VISIONS Endowment Fund solicits grant applications from staff members of any Vandalia-Butler School who want to implement innovative ideas in their building and provide other enrichment programs for students.

How does the VISIONS Endowment Fund differ from other school fundraising groups?
The fundraising activities of the PTA, Boosters and similar organizations raise immediate cash, mostly for immediate use.  The VISIONS Endowment Fund also raises immediate cash, but it is also directed toward creating a permanent investment base that will provide income for generations to come.

Accomplishments
Since its formation the VISIONS Endowment Fund has awarded more than $18,500 in grants to teachers in the Vandalia-Butler City Schools.  Several of the grants are featured at  Grants Awarded on our website.  For several years the VISIONS Endowment Fund has held an annual fundraising event to recognize the grant recipients for the year and to encourage support from the community by soliciting pledges and conducting silent auctions and similar activities.

Roll of Recognition
The VISIONS Endowment Fund Board has assumed responsibility for the annual Roll of Recognition for the Vandalia-Butler Schools.  We annually seek nominations and select up to three recipients who represent a distinguished Vandalia-Butler alumnus, a current or former staff member and a community member who deserves recognition for outstanding support of the Vandalia-Butler School System.  The recognition is presented at our annual Roll of Recognition event.
